Roots of disease - If you want to heal you have to look within

Our body is an incredible machine, designed to help and guide us. It stores every information we have ever received in some form and we have more access to it than we think. There's not only memory in our brain, there is also muscle memory and emotional memory and the body keeps and expresses them in different ways. We have to tune in and start to get to know our bodies if we want to be healthy and aligned.
For me everything has an emotional root cause. It's like a computer that has a hardware and a software, both need each other to fully function. Our body is the hardware and our emotions are the software. Our body receives information through our emotions and feelings and learns how to move, behave and also what to physically express. If the software has a virus, the hardware can become useless.
Everybody knows by now that stress affects us physically and is the cause of many different diseases from a cold, to digestive issues to cancer. Now, stress is a vague definition but it simply means that we are overwhelmed by our circumstances. Saying that shows why not necessarily our situation is the problem but how we respond to it. Some people strive in a busy and hectic environment while others burn out. Especially if we go through longer phases of stress the body's response will be more severe. Longterm stress usually means ignoring or suppressing emotions for an unhealthy period of time which causes the body to shut down in some way.
Our emotions and beliefs navigate us through life and create the state of our physical well-being. Somebody who is in tune with his feelings and knows how to express them in a healthy way will less likely get sick than someone who does not. If we see emotions like a river flowing through then unexpressed emotions are like a big bolder that causes a blockage. Hence the flow is interrupted and the water eventually gets stagnant and cloudy. Emotions are energy, if energy does not flow or gets released it can build up and cause imbalances in the body. Not only obvious diseases but also fatigue, headaches, unpleasant sensations or symptoms that seem to be undiagnosed are signs that it's our inner state that needs to be addressed.
Unfortunately western medicine is still very far behind when it comes to knowing about the interconnectedness of our being and therefore often fails to diagnose or cure symptoms. Eastern medicine is more advanced and looks much deeper when it comes to our health, it has a more holistic approach. Energy healing, even though there are so many different types, acknowledges that we are energy on all levels and that emotions are the root cause of our health. Working with our Chakras is for me the most effective way to heal and stay balanced. Each of the 7 Chakras is connected to certain emotions, character traits as well as physical issues and attributes. When it comes to our health it is impossible to separate body and mind. If we want to heal and stay healthy we have to look within and uncover the uncomfortable feelings that we have suppressed for to long. Merely the awareness of it can bring instant relief.
I am not saying to ignore the physical symptoms or not go to doctors and get tests done. It is as important to look at our health from all different angles and western medicine can do incredible things to help us. But especially 'chronic' (careful with this word as our mind believes what we feed it - and nothing has to be chronic) illnesses or things that seem to be undiagnosable need to be looked at from a deeper level. Our mind co-creates our reality and therefore our health. Our emotional and mental capacity to deal with situations - with life - paves the way for our well-being. It is so important and still so underrated to take care of our emotional well-being, have a balanced and calm state of mind and be aware of our psychological state. Maybe because it seems even more painful to look at our deepest wounds and traumas than to deal with IBS, eczema or insomnia, just to name a few. In the long run it is inevitable though to do the inner work if we want to heal. We have to make use of our body's intelligence and get to know it better. If we understand ourselves we can heal ourselves.
Coming back to the Chakras, a few examples of imbalances are let's say digestive issues. They are connected to the Solar plexus Chakra and respond to our self-esteem, our power, literally and metaphorically how we digest things and situations. What are we holding in, what are we not able to carry anymore? Symptoms like thyroid issues, throat and voice issues or neck problems can come from an imbalanced Throat Chakra that responds to our ability to express ourselves and our presence in life. Those are just a few examples but knowing this gives us so much power over our own health. It is not easy to deal with emotionally painful topics but the benefits are worth it and they are long-lasting. Once we gain awareness over something it cannot be reversed and will help in the future. Healing can come much faster and diseases will be less frequent with a balanced state of mind and healthy expressed emotions.
I will always plead for doing the inner work and getting to know our emotional st
ate. If we know how to care for ourselves emotionally, we can much easier navigate the physical aspects. If the emotions can flow, energy flows and if our energy flows freely our body is happy and healthy.
